Assalamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullah

I completed my Master’s degree in Elementary Education through The University of Phoenix and am now a certified teacher. I completed my Bachelor’s degree in general studies at Oakland University, although the majority of my undergraduate work was completed at The University of Houston, in Houston, TX as a Math Major. I  have an extensive background in Math, and I have completed a Minor in Management Information Systems from The University of Houston.

My teaching experience started when I was 16 years old; I used to teach Sunday School at my local masjid, in Houston. I taught Islamic Studies at the Sunday School for about 7 years. At Madrasat al Huda, a full-time Islamic School in Houston, I was the secretary for the Boys Academy and also the Math and Science teaher for 5th grade and 6th grade combined class. I have been teaching at Tawheed Center School since 2004 and have taught all academic subjects for 4th and 5th grades, as well as Reading and Language Arts for 6th and 8th grades, and Math for 8th grade.

I have been active in community programs such as organizing Islamic dawah programs, Islamic courses, fundraisers, and youth programs for the last 12 years. Through my experience and education, I have come to love working for Islamic dawah and plan to continue to build Tawheed school one brick at a time, if Allah wills.

I have been working with Islamic and weekend schools for over past five years.  I am currently teaching sixth grade at Tawheed Center School and this is my second year here.  Because of my educational background, I am more interested in coaching the kids how to be independent thinker and individuals, rather than simply spoon-feeding information and making them rely solely on their rote-memory.  Alhamdulilah, it is a blessing to be able to work in an Islamic school with Muslim children and youth.
