Teacher ProfilesMAYADAH ABUSHAAR – PRESCHOOL WIDAD ALI – PRESCHOOL HERO TALAT– PRESCHOOL Aslamu alaikum my name is sister Hero Mohamed, and I am the pre-school Montessori teacher at Tawheed center school and this is my fourth year in Tawheed School. I have taken Montessori training at MMTCC at Rochester hills and currently doing my internship at Henry Ford child development Montessori in the morning and teaching pre-school at Tawheed in the afternoon. I am also taking classes at Henry ford community college in Dearborn to complete my degree in elementary education. I have also taught Arabic, Islamic studies, and Quran in Sunday school at Tawheed. I also taught in Al-Noor pre-school for two years. SUZAN HAMAD– PRESCHOOL Assalamu-Alaykum. My name is Sister Suzan. I am the pre-school teacher at Tawheed Center School. I have completed a 2-year college degree at Wayne county Community College, and I have a three-year experience in teaching. I enjoy teaching preschool; there is always something exciting for us to teach and learn everyday. SAEEDA ABDUL-GHAFOOR - FIRST GRADE
HASNA WRIGHTS - SECOND GRADE As-salamu-Alikum, my name is Sister Hasna. I am the 1st Grade teacher at Tawheed Center School of Detroit. I graduated with a degree in Education and Psychology in 1999 from The College of New Rochelle in New York. This year will mark my 7th year in teaching. I have taught kindergarten for 3 years, 1st grade for 2 years, 3rd grade for 1 year, and now 2nd grade. I enjoy teaching the lower elementary because they are so eager to learn. I especially love the 2nd grade class that I am currently teaching. Everyday is a new learning experience for us. Insha-Allah, by the end of the school year they should be completely ready for third grade. UM MUSA -THIRD GRADE Assalamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullah My name is Sister Iram (Um Musa) and I am the 3rd grade teacher. I try my best to meet the needs of all my students and provide opportunities for their growth and development. I completed my Master’s degree in Elementary Education through The University of Phoenix and am now a certified teacher. I completed my Bachelor’s degree in general studies at Oakland University, although the majority of my undergraduate work was completed at The University of Houston, in Houston, TX as a Math Major. I have an extensive background in Math, and I have completed a Minor in Management Information Systems from The University of Houston. My teaching experience started when I was 16 years old; I used to teach Sunday School at my local masjid, in Houston. I taught Islamic Studies at the Sunday School for about 7 years. At Madrasat al Huda, a full-time Islamic School in Houston, I was the secretary for the Boys Academy and also the Math and Science teaher for 5th grade and 6th grade combined class. I have been teaching at Tawheed Center School since 2004 and have taught all academic subjects for 4th and 5th grades, as well as Reading and Language Arts for 6th and 8th grades, and Math for 8th grade. I have been active in community programs such as organizing Islamic dawah programs, Islamic courses, fundraisers, and youth programs for the last 12 years. Through my experience and education, I have come to love working for Islamic dawah and plan to continue to build Tawheed school one brick at a time, if Allah wills. UM LUQMAN – FOURTH GRADE JABEEN AHMED – FIFTH GRADE MARIAM RAZA – SIXTH GRADE I graduated from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Brain, Behavior and Cognitive Sciences. I will begin working on Master’s Degree in Education Psychology in 2008, in sha’ Allah. I am also taking classes on jurisprudence, theology and history classes at an Islamic Institute. I have been active in my local community in organizing halaqaat, Islamic lectures and other social activities. I have been working with Islamic and weekend schools for over past five years. I am currently teaching sixth grade at Tawheed Center School and this is my second year here. Because of my educational background, I am more interested in coaching the kids how to be independent thinker and individuals, rather than simply spoon-feeding information and making them rely solely on their rote-memory. Alhamdulilah, it is a blessing to be able to work in an Islamic school with Muslim children and youth. NOJOUD FARAJ – Arabic SAFEYA NAHSHAL – Quran NAIMA SEMSADI – Islamic Studies My name is Naima Semsadi. I studied English Literature in the University of Mohammad the 5th for two years. I also studied Islamic Aqeedah, Fiqh, Seerah and the science of Hadeeth and other Islamic subjects in the same university for another two years. team works together, they make a more beneficial impact on students. Raimah Al-Talhi– Quran & Arabic My name is Raimah AlTalhi. I am the Quran teacher for KG and third grade and the Arabic teacher for KG, first grade, and the beginner’s level of fifth & sixth grades. I graduated from the Open American University in Virginia, US, with a Bachelor degree in Islamic and Arabic studies. I also studied Arabic and Islamic Studies at - Sharjah University, UAE, 2003-2004 and Qatar University, Qatar, 2004-2005. I wrote more than 20 research papers that covers many areas in jurisprudence and faith. Studying Quran was the most joyful experience in my life. I studied Quran in KSA, UAE, and the US. I worked for a year as a Quran, Arabic and Islamic Studies teacher at the Islamic Center of Clinton, IA (2007). I am also the Quran and Islamic studies teacher in Tawheed Sunday school. As an Islamic love and logic parent and teacher, I will work closely with my students to be good Quran and Arabic readers. If Allah wills, I look forward to starting a new school year and the successes we will share.
